Tuesday, 3rd March 2009 (1248 views) West Michigan University (WMU) is to hold a free nanotechnology conference to discuss the ethical and social impacts of the scientific field, it has been announced.The event, which is to take place on March 28th-29th and has been organised by the Nanoethics Group, will focus on use of nanoscience in areas such as sports, religion and the military. It will be attended by researchers from a variety of colleges and universities from around the world, including Yale, Oxford University and the Albany School of Medicine. Dr Fritz Allhoff, assistant professor at WMU's philosophy department and co-founder of the Nanoethics Group, stated that the conference will be used to discuss important areas of the technology, which often involves the use of gold. A nanotechnology conference is also taking place in the UK later this month, with the Natural Physical Laboratory in Teddington holding a one-day event focusing on the issue of using nanosenors in the security, health and environmental industries.
