Nano-manufacturing to be discussed at February seminarThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Tuesday, 6th November 2007 (4060 views) A workshop to discuss sustainable nano-manufacturing techniques has been planned for February 2008 in advance of the International Conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (Iconn). The Sustainable Nano-Manufacturing Workshop, which is to be co-sponsored by the Australian Research Council and the US National Science Foundation, will consist of focus meetings, panel presentations, discussions and overview presentations related to nano-manufacturing. Earlier this autumn, chemists at Northwestern University developed a soft lithography nano-manufacturing technique to produce large quantities of gold nanoparticles a discovery which was featured on the cover of September's edition of the scientific journal Nature Nanotechnology. February's invitation-only workshop is set to discuss issues surrounding nano-manufacturing techniques, including further opportunities in the field and development of sustainable methods of nanoparticles production. The workshop is scheduled to be held in Melbourne, Australia on February 23rd and 24th 2008, with Iconn to follow from February 25th to 29th. Iconn is set to cover a variety of topics relating to the field of nanotechnology, including fabrication, modelling, device design, nanostructure growth and synthesis.
