Analytica 2008, the world's largest laboratory technology, analysis and life sciences trade show, will focus on the future of nanoanalysis, according to Laboratorytalk.

The lab equipment news source reported that recent studies have shown that new markets could be on the rise due to the convergence of analysis and nanotechnology, particularly with developments in the use of gold nanoparticles.

Gold nanoparticles can be used as bioanalytic markings, which improve the sensitivity of optical detection – a significant development given that the process improves upon the traditional method of using fluorescence techniques.

Laboratorytalk speculated that the current nanotechnology "boom" will create opportunities for growth in the analysis sector as its potential continues to be explored.

Next year's trade fair promises to focus extensively on technological developments of gold nanoparticles and other aspects of nanotechnology as the German federal ministry for education and research has predicted that nanotechnology components and techniques will be widely used within the next decade.

The Analytica trade fair considers itself to be a platform for the exchange of information in the life sciences and biotechnology sectors targeted at researchers and scientists, as well as those involved in biotechnology product management, sales and marketing.

The trade fair, held once every two years, is scheduled to take place from April 1st to 4th 2008 in Munich, Germany.
